On July 29, 2010, Henry Carlson Company signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment.

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognized Darrel Hansen as a Patriot Employer. The award recognizes employers who contribute to national security and protect liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America's National Guard and Reserve Force.

Meredith Larson has been named chairman for the 2010 calendar of Planning Commission meetings for the city of Sioux Falls. He is in his second five-year term on the The City of Sioux Falls Planning Commission, which expires May 2013.

The Planning Commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council. It is their responsibility to consider and make recommendations on land use and zoning matters for the city of Sioux Falls.

The Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), Siouxland Chapter has elected Chris Peters to its board of directors.

The CFMA is “The Source and Resource for Construction Financial Professionals” and the only nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the construction financial professional. CFMA has chapters in major cities from Maine to Hawaii and offers local workshops, seminars and programs that complement the extensive member services provided by CFMA Headquarters in Princeton, NJ. CFMA currently has more than 7,000 members in 89 chapters throughout the U.S.

The Sioux Falls Business Journal awarded the Readers Choice Award for Best General Contractor for 2009-10 to Henry Carlson Company. The Sioux Falls Business Journal’s Readers Choice Awards recognize readers’ favorite area companies and business professionals. More than 425 readers voted and chose the winners.

The following employees of Children's Care Hospital & School have been awarded Henry and Eleanor Carlson Family Scholarships:

•  Teachers Robert Beringer and Erin Stabnow
•  Behavior Therapists April Groeneweg, Lonna Kreidler, and Jason Dybsetter
•  Psychologist Joel Sonnichsen

The Carlson Scholarship was established with a gift given by the Carlson family to support education and training for Children's Care staff. To support the growing demand for behavioral services, the scholarship grant is specifically targeted to those earning degrees in Applied Behavior Analysis, the basis for behavioral programming at Children's Care.

Congratulations to Eric Schuler for being  elected to the local chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Board of Directors.

Chad Nelson, a Senior Project Manager for Henry Carlson Company, recently graduated from the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce’s 23rd Annual Leadership Sioux Falls program along with 31 other professionals in the business community.

Chad was also recently elected the chairman of Future Leaders of the Building Chapter of the South Dakota Associated General Contractors.  This national organization fulfills the need to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the construction industry.

For the benefit of our sustainable building clients, The Henry Carlson Company now has four LEED accredited professionals on staff.  Recently, Jerry Fromm, Mike Ralston, and Meredith Larson earned their LEED ® accreditation from the US Green Building Council. 

Jerry is a Project Manager, Mike is a Project Engineer, and Meredith is the VP of Pre-Construction Services for the Henry Carlson Company
